Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has announced the exam date for Havildar Clerk (from Bihar Home Guard Quota) Advertisement No. 02/2026. The written examination is on 20 May 2026 and the Admit Card will be available for download from 6 May 2026 at the official BPSSC website. This recruitment is specifically for Bihar Home Guard personnel — 64 posts across all reserved categories.

This Recruitment vs BPSSC Havildar Instructor Advt 05/2026 — Know the Difference

BPSSC currently has two active Havildar-level recruitments running simultaneously, and many candidates confuse the two. Advt 02/2026 (this one) is for Havildar Clerk posts from the Bihar Home Guard quota — you must already be serving in the Bihar Home Guard to apply. Advt 05/2026 is the open BPSSC Havildar Instructor recruitment for general 10+2 pass candidates. Make sure you are downloading the correct Admit Card for the correct advertisement.

Vacancy Details — 64 Posts

The 64 posts are distributed across categories as follows: Unreserved/General (26), EWS (6), EBC (11), BC (8), BC-Female (2), SC (10), ST (1). The age limit is 24–50 years as on 01/08/2025 — notably the minimum is 24 (not 18), reflecting that these are positions for experienced Home Guard personnel. Application fee: ₹100 for all categories.

Selection Process — Written Exam Is Only Qualifying

This is the most important thing to understand about this recruitment. The written exam (100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours) is a qualifying filter only — you need minimum 30 marks (30%) to pass. The final merit list is based entirely on Physical Efficiency Test (PET) marks — 100 marks total across three events. Written exam marks are not added to the final score.

  1. Written Competitive Exam — 100 MCQ, 100 marks, 2 hrs. Qualifying: 30% minimum. Top 5× vacancies per category proceed to PET.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST) — Height and chest measurement. Pass/fail only. Male UR/BC/EBC: 165 cm, 81–86 cm chest. Male SC/ST: 160 cm, 79–84 cm. Female all: 155 cm.
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — 100 marks, merit-based. This determines final rank.
  4. Medical Examination — Pass/fail, as per BPSSC standards.

PET Events — What 100 Marks Cover

  • Running 1 km: 50 marks. Male target: within 6 minutes. Female: within 5 minutes. Minimum 20 marks to qualify the event.
  • Shot Put: 25 marks. Male: 16 lb ball, minimum 16 feet. Female: 12 lb ball, 12 feet. 3 attempts — best counts.
  • High Jump: 25 marks. Male: minimum 4 feet. Female: minimum 3 feet. 3 attempts — best counts.

Running accounts for 50% of your total PET score — it is the single most decisive event. Two candidates with identical shot put and high jump performance can be 15–20 marks apart based on running speed alone.

Written Exam Pattern

100 objective questions in 2 hours covering: Hindi Language, English Language, Mathematics, Social Science, General Science, and General Knowledge. No separate section-wise breakdown is published — all 6 subjects are part of the same 100-question paper.

What to Do in the 14 Days Before the Exam (6–20 May)

You have exactly 14 days between Admit Card release and exam day. For the written exam: revise Hindi grammar, basic mathematics (arithmetic, percentage, ratio), and Bihar/India GK. Just aim for 35–40 out of 100 to comfortably clear the 30% cutoff — do not over-invest in written preparation. Use the remaining time for running practice: go for timed 1 km runs every 2 days to peak your speed. The PET is what gets you selected.
