HPSC PGT Computer Science 2026 — Exam Date and Preparation Guide

Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has released the exam date for PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) Computer Science Recruitment 2026 (Advertisement No. 23/2026). PGT Computer Science teachers are recruited for Haryana government senior secondary schools (+1 and +2 level) to teach Computer Science, Informatics Practices, and related subjects.

HPSC PGT is a Gazetted Group B post — one of the more prestigious teaching positions in Haryana state services. The pay scale (Pay Level 8 — ₹47,600 basic) and job security make this a highly sought-after teaching appointment.

Exam Day Checklist

  • HPSC Admit Card — downloaded from hpsc.gov.in. Colour print strongly recommended.
  • Original Photo ID — Aadhar Card, Voter ID, or Passport (name matching admit card exactly)
  • Blue/Black ball-point pen (2–3 pens) — HPSC PGT is a written exam
  • 2 recent passport-size photographs
  • No mobile phones or electronic devices inside exam hall
  • Reach exam centre 60 minutes early — HPSC exam venues have lengthy biometric and document verification at entry

HPSC PGT Computer Science Exam Pattern

HPSC PGT exam has two parts:

Part A — General Studies (25 marks): Haryana GK and current affairs, General English, Logical Reasoning. Multiple choice questions. This part is common across all PGT subjects.

Part B — Subject Specific (75 marks): Computer Science syllabus at post-graduation level. Covers: Data Structures, Algorithms, Database Management Systems, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Programming (C, C++, Java concepts), Software Engineering, Web Technology, AI basics, and Computer Organization.

Total: 100 MCQ questions, 90 minutes. No negative marking in most HPSC PGT exams — verify from your admit card/official notification.

Subject Paper Strategy

HPSC PGT Computer Science attracts candidates with BCA, B.Tech CS/IT, MCA backgrounds. The subject paper at 75 marks is where you win or lose. Focus areas: DBMS (SQL queries, normalization — these appear every year), Data Structures (trees, graphs, sorting algorithms with complexity analysis), and Networking (OSI model, TCP/IP, subnetting). These three topics together typically account for 40–50% of Part B marks.

Frequently Asked Questions
