NTA NCET 2026 — Exam City Intimation and What to Expect

NTA (National Testing Agency) has released Exam City Intimation for NCET 2026 (National Common Entrance Test). NCET is the entrance exam for admission to 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) — a B.Ed equivalent programme introduced by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at Central Universities, NITs, RIEs (Regional Institutes of Education), and other institutions.

The exam city intimation confirms which city your exam centre is in — the actual exam centre address (building name, street) will be on your admit card when it's released. If the city shown is far from your registered address and you believe it's an error, contact NTA at ntancet@nta.ac.in with your application number.

Exam Day Essentials for NCET 2026

  • NTA Admit Card (download from ncet.samarth.ac.in) — when released, this is your entry pass. Print it in colour if possible.
  • Original Photo ID — Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving Licence
  • 2 passport-size photographs — same as uploaded during registration
  • No mobile phones, earphones, or smart devices
  • No stationery needed — NCET is a Computer Based Test (CBT)

NCET 2026 Exam Pattern

NCET is a 2-hour CBT with 100 multiple-choice questions across:

  • Section A — Domain Subject: 40 questions from the subject you've chosen (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Mathematics, Political Science, Economics, Commerce, etc.). Tests Class 11–12 level knowledge in your subject.
  • Section B — Teaching Aptitude: 20 questions — classroom situations, student psychology, teaching methods basics
  • Section C — Reasoning and General Awareness: 40 questions — logical reasoning, critical thinking, current educational affairs

Marking: +4 per correct, −1 per wrong. Total: 400 marks. The Domain Subject section (Section A) is where most marks are won or lost — this needs the most preparation time.

Why NCET Matters — What It Gets You

NCET score is used for admission to ITEP — a 4-year integrated programme that gives you a Bachelor's degree (BA/B.Sc) along with B.Ed in an integrated format. This is the new standard for school teaching in India under NEP 2020. Completing ITEP from an NIT or Central University gives you a teaching qualification recognized across all states for TGT/PGT/PRT selection. ITEP graduates are expected to have priority in future teacher recruitment as the policy rollout continues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can NCET score be used for multiple institutions?

Yes. NCET score is used for centralized counselling across all ITEP institutions (Central Universities, NITs, RIEs). You submit one NCET application and your score is considered by all participating institutions. Separate applications to each institution are not needed for NCET-based admissions.

Q: Is NCET only for science students?

No. NCET has domain sections for Arts, Commerce, and Science streams. You select your domain at registration — whichever stream you completed Class 12 in. Arts students appear for History/Geography/Political Science sections; Commerce students for Economics/Commerce sections; Science students for Physics/Chemistry/Biology sections.
