About NEET UG 2026 Exam City Intimation

What Is the Exam City Intimation Slip?

A lot of students confuse the Exam City Intimation with the Admit Card — they are two different things. The City Intimation Slip is released first. It only tells you which city your exam centre is in. It does not give you the exact address, hall number, or reporting time. That information comes with the Admit Card, which NTA usually releases about 4–6 days before the exam.

For NEET UG 2026, the exam city intimation is now available on neet.nta.nic.in. The full admit card is expected around 29 April 2026, and the exam is on 3 May 2026 (Sunday, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM).

Why Does the City Intimation Matter?

NEET draws candidates from every district in India. NTA assigns exam cities based on your registration preference, but the actual city can sometimes differ from what you chose — especially if your preferred city is oversubscribed. Checking the city intimation early gives you time to:

  • Book trains or buses before last-minute rush (especially if your city is different from home)
  • Arrange accommodation near the exam city if needed
  • Mentally map travel time so you're not rushing on exam day

The admit card (available ~29 April) will have the exact centre address — check Google Maps in advance so there are no surprises on exam day.

NEET UG 2026 — What You're Competing For

NEET UG is the single gateway to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS, and BSc Nursing admissions across India. In 2025, over 24 lakh students registered. The total available MBBS seats (government + private) are roughly 1,08,940. That means roughly 1 in 22 registered candidates gets an MBBS seat — but for government college seats (about 55,000), the competition is even tighter.

The exam is 3 hours, 720 marks, 180 questions — but a nuance many students miss: there is a Section B in each subject with 15 questions, of which you attempt only 10. You choose which 10 — so read all 15 before committing, as wrong answers carry –1 penalty.

Key Things to Know Before Exam Day

  • Language selection is final: You chose your exam language at registration. NEET is conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi, and 11 regional languages. The paper you get in the exam hall will be in the language you selected — you cannot switch.
  • No rough sheet is provided separately: You can use the OMR sheet margins for rough work, but do NOT mark anywhere other than the designated answer circles.
  • Dress code matters at some centres: Many NEET centres enforce dress code checks. Avoid clothes with full sleeves, large buttons, or metallic accessories. Half-sleeve light-coloured clothes are safest.
  • Reporting time: Gates typically close 30 minutes before the exam starts (i.e., 1:30 PM). Plan to reach the city at least 2 hours early, not just the centre.
  • Biometric verification: NTA does fingerprint/photo verification at the centre. Bring the same photo you uploaded during registration — this is checked strictly.

What to Carry on Exam Day

  • Printed Admit Card (2 copies — 1 submitted at centre, 1 you keep)
  • Original Photo ID — Aadhaar / Passport / Driving Licence / Voter ID (any one)
  • Passport-size photograph (same as uploaded — carry 2–3 extras)
  • Blue/Black ballpoint pen (NOT gel pens — OMR sheets may not read gel ink properly)
  • Transparent water bottle and any permitted medical items (with prior NTA approval)

What NOT to Carry

  • Mobile phone, smartwatch, Bluetooth device of any kind
  • Calculator, ruler, geometry box
  • Any paper, textbook, printed notes — even a single page
  • Wallet with thick cards (keep minimal — just ID and admit card)
  • Jewellery with metallic components (rings, chains, earrings with metal)
