RRB NTPC UG 2026 — What You Need to Know
Railway Recruitment Board's NTPC Under Graduate (UG) recruitment under CEN 07/2025 is one of the most competitive railway exams in India. With 3,058 vacancies and over 63 lakh registered candidates, the competition ratio is roughly 1 seat for every 20 candidates. Posts are 12th pass level — Junior Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Trains Clerk, and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk.
The CBT 1 exam is a screening round only. Marks scored in CBT 1 are NOT counted in the final merit — only CBT 2 marks count. This means CBT 1 is purely about clearing the cutoff and securing a spot in CBT 2. Attempt maximum questions with accuracy — don't guess blindly since 1/3 mark is deducted per wrong answer.
City Intimation vs Admit Card — What's the Difference?
Many candidates confuse the two. The City Intimation Slip is released first (~10 days before exam). It tells you your exam city and shift only — no exact centre address. The Admit Card is released 4–5 days before the exam and contains the full centre address, reporting time, and roll number.
Download city intimation early to book travel/accommodation. Then download the admit card separately — it is a different document.
Aadhaar Biometric Verification — Mandatory
RRB has made Aadhaar biometric verification mandatory at exam centres for NTPC UG CEN 07/2025. Carry your original Aadhaar card — not a photocopy. If your fingerprints don't match (e.g. due to injury), contact the invigilator before the exam starts, not after.
Exam Day Tips
- Report early: Gates close 30 minutes before exam. Shift 1 starts 9 AM — reach by 8 AM.
- No mobile phone allowed — leave it at home or in the vehicle
- Rough work: Use the space provided on screen/paper. Do not bring any paper.
- Exam language: You can switch language on the CBT screen during the exam (English/Hindi).
- Time management: 100 questions in 90 minutes = 54 seconds per question. General Awareness is fastest — do it first.
