SSC GD Constable 2025 CBT — Complete Exam Day Guide
SSC has released the Computer Based Test (CBT) exam date and schedule for GD Constable 2025. Candidates who submitted exam week preferences through ssc.gov.in have been allotted a specific week and shift. Your admit card will be released before your exam date — download it from ssc.gov.in as soon as it's available and verify all details immediately.
SSC GD Constable CBT is the first and most competitive stage — lakhs of candidates appear, and only a fraction proceed to Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). Your written exam performance determines whether you get a shot at the physical stages.
What to Carry on CBT Exam Day
- Admit Card (printed, colour preferred) — black and white is usually acceptable but colour avoids any question at the gate
- Original Photo ID — Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving Licence. The ID on your admit card must match the ID you carry. Mismatched IDs = entry denied.
- 2 recent passport-size photographs — same as uploaded during application
- No pens needed — CBT is computer-based
- No electronic devices (mobile, smartwatch, earphones, calculator) — strict security check at entry
CBT Exam Pattern — What You're Actually Facing
The SSC GD Constable CBT has 80 questions across 4 sections:
- General Knowledge & Awareness: 20 questions — current affairs (last 6 months), history, geography, polity, science basics
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 20 questions — analogies, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense
- Elementary Mathematics: 20 questions — percentage, ratio, profit/loss, simple interest, time-speed-work
- English / Hindi: 20 questions — basic grammar, comprehension, fill-in-the-blanks (you choose language at the test center)
Total: 160 marks (2 marks per correct answer). Negative marking: −0.50 per wrong answer. Duration: 60 minutes. No sectional time limit — you can attempt any section in any order.
Exam Centre Tips That Actually Help
Reach the exam centre 60–90 minutes before your shift time. SSC CBT exam centres have long queues for biometric verification and document checking. Reaching 30 minutes before is risky — many candidates who reached "on time" have missed the entry cutoff.
Dress practically — lightweight clothes. Exam halls are AC but sometimes the AC is too cold; a thin shawl or light jacket (without metal fasteners) is allowed. Metal belt buckles and watches are removed at security — wear simple clothing.
The computer interface shows one question at a time. You can "mark for review" and return to questions. In the last 10 minutes, revisit marked questions. Submit only when you're satisfied — you cannot re-enter after submission.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What if my exam week preference was not honored?
SSC allots exam weeks based on preference and availability. If your preferred week was fully booked, you may have been placed in another week. The allotted week and date on your admit card is final — you must appear on that date. Request for rescheduling is not entertained after allotment (except in extraordinary circumstances with SSC permission).
Q: Can I appear in Hindi for all 4 sections?
Three sections (GK, Reasoning, Maths) are language-neutral (numbers and logic). The language section (English/Hindi) — you select your preferred language at the test center. Questions in this section will appear in the language you select.
Q: What happens after CBT — what's the physical test?
After CBT results, shortlisted candidates (typically 10–15× vacancies) go to PET (1.6 km run for men in 7:30 min; 800m for women in 4:00 min) and PST (height: 170 cm men / 157 cm women; chest for men: 80 cm / 85 cm expanded). Both are qualifying — not merit-based. Medical examination follows for those who clear physical stages.
