Salary / Pay
GATE is a qualifying and scoring examination, not a direct recruitment — so there is no salary attached to the form itself. Your GATE 2027 score is what carries value: it is used for admission to M.Tech/PhD programmes (where you may receive an MHRD stipend, indicatively around ₹12,400 per month for M.Tech) and for recruitment into Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) such as IOCL, NTPC, ONGC and BHEL, where entry-level pay typically runs into lakhs per annum. These figures are indicative and depend on the admitting institute or recruiting PSU — refer to their individual notifications.
Selection Process
GATE 2027 is a single computer-based test (CBT). The exam is held online across 6–21 February 2027 in multiple sessions, indicatively a 3-hour paper of 100 marks with 65 questions in MCQ, MSQ and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) formats — confirm the exact pattern in the Information Brochure. There is no interview or physical test. After the exam, IIT Madras releases the answer key, response sheet and finally the GATE Score Card on 19 March 2027, which stays valid for three years for admissions and PSU applications.
How to Apply
Apply online only at the official GATE 2027 portal, gate2027.iitm.ac.in (GOAPS — GATE Online Application Processing System). The form goes live on 14 August 2026.
