UPSSSC PET 2026 Online Form – Apply by 01 Sept 2026
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has opened online applications for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026. PET is the mandatory first gateway for almost every UPSSSC Group C recruitment in Uttar Pradesh — you must clear it before you can apply for any Main recruitment such as VDO, Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, Forest Guard and more. Your PET score card stays valid for 3 years, so one attempt covers you for multiple recruitments. If you have passed Class 10 (High School) and are aged 18 to 40 years, you should apply between 03 August 2026 and 01 September 2026 at upsssc.gov.in. Full details on eligibility, important dates, application fee, exam pattern and how to apply are given below.

Eligibility
| Educational Qualification | You must have passed the Class 10 (High School) examination from any recognised board. Any higher qualification — Class 12, graduation or above from a recognised university — also makes you eligible. PET is a general eligibility screen, so there is no subject or stream restriction at this stage; specific qualification requirements apply later when you appear for the Main recruitment of a particular post. |
| Age Limit | Your age must be between 18 and 40 years as on 01 July 2026. This means you should have been born between 02 July 1986 and 01 July 2008 (both dates inclusive). Age relaxation is available for reserved categories (SC/ST, OBC, EWS, PwD, Ex-Servicemen and other eligible groups) as per Uttar Pradesh Government and UPSSSC rules — check the official notification for the exact number of years for your category. |
| Age Relaxation | Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD as per UPSSSC rules — indicative, refer notification. |

Salary / Pay
PET itself is only a qualifying test and carries no salary or pay scale. The pay you eventually earn depends on the specific UPSSSC post whose Main recruitment you qualify for after clearing PET — for example VDO, Lekhpal or Junior Assistant posts fall under Pay Levels of the Uttar Pradesh pay matrix. Treat any salary figure as indicative until you apply for a particular Main recruitment; refer to that post's notification for the exact pay level.
Selection Process
Selection at this stage is a single Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) — a computer/OMR based written exam of 100 marks with objective (MCQ) questions covering General Awareness, Reasoning, Current Affairs, General Hindi, Maths, English, and topics like unread passage, graph and table interpretation. There is negative marking of one-fourth (1/4) for each wrong answer. PET does not directly give you a job; it produces a merit score card valid for 3 years, which you then use to apply for the Main recruitment (exam/skill test/interview/PET-DV as applicable) of individual UPSSSC posts.
