CTET February 2026 Result — What This Certificate Gets You

NTA has declared the Result for CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) February 2026. CTET is not a job — it is a mandatory eligibility certificate for teaching in central government schools (Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, Central Tibetan Schools, Army Public Schools, etc.) and also accepted by many states for their government school teacher appointments.

Passing CTET means you are eligible to apply for teacher recruitment in central government schools — it doesn't mean you're selected. Actual job selection happens through separate recruitment by KVS, NVS, DSSSB, or state education departments. Think of CTET as your teacher's licence — necessary but not sufficient for getting the job.

Understanding Your CTET Score and Certificate

CTET has two papers:

  • Paper I: For teaching Classes 1–5 (Primary level). Sections: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies. Minimum passing: 60% (90/150 marks) for general; 55% (82/150) for SC/ST/OBC/PwD.
  • Paper II: For teaching Classes 6–8 (Upper Primary level). Sections: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, and one subject area (Mathematics/Science OR Social Studies/Social Science). Same passing marks threshold.

You can appear for both papers in the same attempt. Clearing Paper I makes you eligible for primary teacher posts; clearing Paper II for upper primary. Many candidates clear both and become eligible for a wider range of teaching jobs.

CTET Certificate Validity — Lifetime Now

This is critical and often misunderstood: the Government of India revised CTET certificate validity to lifetime in 2021. Certificates issued before 2021 (which had 7-year validity) were also extended to lifetime. Your CTET February 2026 certificate is valid forever — you don't need to give the exam again to maintain eligibility.

What to Do After Clearing CTET

Start tracking these recruitment notifications for teaching jobs that accept CTET scores:

  • KVS (Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan): Primary Teacher (PRT) for Paper I, TGT for Paper II. KVS releases a major teacher recruitment cycle roughly every 2 years.
  • NVS (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti): PGT, TGT, and PRT posts. NVS also has residential school teacher posts with additional perks.
  • DSSSB: Delhi government school teacher posts — TGT and PRT requiring CTET. Very competitive but excellent salary.
  • State government teachers: Many states (UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, MP) also accept CTET in lieu of their own TET for certain recruitment cycles — check your state's current notification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I cleared Paper II but not Paper I — can I apply for primary teacher posts?

No. Paper I and Paper II are separate eligibility certifications. Clearing Paper II only makes you eligible for Classes 6–8 teacher posts. If you want to apply for primary (Classes 1–5) posts, you need to clear Paper I separately in a future CTET cycle. Many candidates appear for both papers and clear both to maximize their options.

Q: Does CTET give any advantage in state government teacher recruitment?

It depends on the state. Some states (like UP through SUPER TET) give extra marks or eligibility preference to CTET qualified candidates in their recruitment. Others have their own state TET and don't give CTET any priority. Check the specific teacher recruitment notification for the state you're targeting.
