SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Recruitment 2026 – 731 Posts
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Recruitment 2026 notification for 731 vacancies across Central Government Ministries, Departments, and Organizations. Grade C Stenographers work at Group B (Gazetted/Non-Gazetted) level and Grade D at Group C level. These are central government permanent posts with excellent job security, 7th CPC salary, and all standard government benefits including HRA, DA, medical, and LTC.

Eligibility
- Education: 12th pass (Intermediate) from a recognized Board or University. No graduation is required.
- Age Limit: 18–30 years for Grade D. 18–30 years for Grade C (up to 30 for certain reserved posts). OBC: +3 years, SC/ST: +5 years, PH: +10 years, Ex-Serviceman: as per rules.
- Skill Test Speed Requirements:
- Grade C: 100 wpm in English Stenography OR 80 wpm in Hindi Stenography
- Grade D: 80 wpm in English Stenography OR 65 wpm in Hindi Stenography
Pay Scale
Grade C Stenographers are placed in Pay Level 6 (₹35,400–₹1,12,400) and Grade D in Pay Level 4 (₹25,500–₹81,100) under 7th CPC. With DA at current rates, HRA (8–27% of basic), transport allowance, and NPS, total in-hand for Grade D is approximately ₹35,000–₹45,000/month and Grade C is ₹48,000–₹60,000/month at starting level.
Selection Process
- CBT (Computer Based Test) – 15 July 2026: General Intelligence, English, General Awareness (200 marks, 2 hours)
- Descriptive Paper (optional, for some posts)
- Skill Test: Stenography speed test in English or Hindi
- Document Verification
- Final Merit List and Allocation to Ministries/Departments
