NTPC Assistant Chemist Trainee 2026 — 40 Posts for M.Sc Chemistry Graduates
NTPC Limited, India's largest power utility, has opened 40 vacancies for Assistant Chemist Trainee (ACT) under Advt. No. 09/26. If you hold a full-time M.Sc in Chemistry and want a career in a Maharatna PSU, this is a direct entry into NTPC's chemistry and water-management functions. The online application window runs from 26 June to 10 July 2026, and selection is through an Online Selection Test followed by document verification and a medical.
Who Can Apply
You need a Regular/Full-Time M.Sc in Chemistry from a university or institute recognised in India. The maximum age is 27 years as on the last date of application, with relaxation for reserved categories as per Government of India rules. Only Indian nationals can apply, and candidates should be able to produce their final or provisional degree by the date specified in the notification.
What an Assistant Chemist Trainee Actually Does
The chemistry function at a thermal power station is more central than people assume. As an ACT, you work in the station's chemical laboratory — testing boiler feed water, monitoring water treatment plants, checking coal and oil quality, and managing the chemistry that keeps high-pressure boilers running safely. It is hands-on technical work, not a desk role. After a one-year training period, successful trainees are absorbed into regular service and can be posted at any NTPC station, project, joint venture, or subsidiary across India.
Pay and the Service Bond
The post carries a pay scale of ₹30,000–₹1,20,000 per month (E1 grade, IDA pattern), and the gross package improves substantially with industrial DA, perks, and PSU benefits once you are regularised. There is a service bond — reported at ₹1,00,000 (₹50,000 for reserved categories) — committing you to a minimum service period after joining. Read the bond clause in the official notification carefully before applying.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹500 for General, OBC, and EWS candidates. SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and female candidates are exempted from the fee. Payment is online through the NTPC careers portal.
How to Apply
Apply online at the NTPC careers portal (careers.ntpc.co.in) between 26 June and 10 July 2026. Keep your M.Sc marksheets, degree/provisional certificate, category certificate (if applicable), photograph, and signature ready before you start. Always verify every detail — eligibility, fee, dates, and the selection test pattern — directly from the official Advt. No. 09/26 notification on the NTPC website.
