The Posts

Officer positions cover Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil Engineers (for refinery and pipeline operations), HR Officers, Finance Officers, IT Officers, and Law Officers. Assistant positions cover Operations Assistants (refinery and terminal operations), Lab Assistants, and Clerical Assistants. Engineer officers are posted at HPCL's refineries (Mumbai, Vizag), LPG bottling plants, pipeline installations, and marketing terminals across India. Non-technical officers work at HPCL's corporate office (Mumbai) and regional offices.

Salary — PSU Premium

Officers enter at E1-E2 grade with CTC of Rs 15-20 lakh per annum. In-hand salary starts at approximately Rs 60,000-80,000 per month. Assistants start at approximately Rs 30,000-40,000. HPCL benefits include company-leased accommodation or HRA (Mumbai HRA alone can be Rs 20,000+), performance-related pay (up to 2-3 months additional salary), superannuation benefits, medical insurance for the entire family, vehicle loan at subsidized rates, children's education allowance, and LTC. Selection

Technical officers are recruited through GATE scores in relevant engineering disciplines. Non-technical officers through a separate HPCL examination. Assistants through an aptitude test conducted by HPCL. Shortlisted candidates face a personal interview. HPCL's selection process is straightforward — GATE score for engineers, written test + interview for others.

Career at HPCL

E1 to E2 to E3... up to E9 (Director level). HPCL provides excellent training — including international exposure for high-performing officers. Career growth is structured with time-bound promotions up to E5, after which promotions are merit-based. An engineer who joins at E1 can expect to reach E5-E6 (General Manager level) within 20 years, earning Rs 2,00,000+ per month plus perks.
