NFSU Section Officer, DSO & Assistant Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 51 Posts
National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), which works under the Ministry of Home Affairs, released Advertisement No. NFSU/NON-ACADEMIC/02/2026 for 51 permanent non-teaching posts: 12 Section Officers, 14 Deputy Section Officers (DSO) and 25 Assistants. These are not Gandhinagar-only jobs. NFSU has 12 campuses — Gandhinagar, Delhi, Goa, Agartala, Bhopal, Dharwad, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Nagpur, Chennai and Jaipur — and you could be posted to any of them. As per the notice, online applications ran on the Samarth portal from 23 February 2026 to 23 March 2026 (11:59 PM). That window is over, so if you applied, your job now is to track the screening test, admit card and result on the official NFSU website.
Eligibility
All three posts need a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university, and freshers are welcome — no work experience is asked for. For Section Officer and DSO there is one extra condition that trips people up: you need at least 55% marks in your degree, or you must have cleared it in the first attempt. If your aggregate is under 55% and you also had a back paper, the SO and DSO posts are out of reach, but the Assistant post still asks only for the degree. NFSU also wants proficiency in Hindi, English and computers. Since there is a Skill Test stage, practise typing, basic MS Office work and drafting a short official note in both languages.
Age is counted as on 23 March 2026. Section Officer and DSO: 21 to 40 years. Assistant: 21 to 35 years, which is a tighter upper limit — if you are above 35 (and do not get relaxation), only the SO and DSO posts are open to you. SC, ST and OBC candidates get 5 years of relaxation on the upper limit, and PwBD candidates get 10 years. Keep your category or disability certificate ready in the format the notification asks for.
Salary / Pay
Section Officer is at Pay Level 8 (₹47,600–1,51,100), DSO at Level 7 (₹44,900–1,42,400) and Assistant at Level 2 (₹19,900–63,200). The vacancy table also shows figures of up to ₹2,15,900, ₹1,97,100 and ₹85,800 per month for the three posts. Read those as the top of the range, not what you take home in your first month — your starting basic pay sits at the entry point of your level, and allowances are paid as per university rules. The gap between Level 2 and Level 7 or 8 is large, so if you meet the 55% or first-attempt rule, SO and DSO are clearly the better posts.
Selection Process
Selection has three stages: a Written Test / Screening Test, a Skill Test, and Document Verification. No interview is listed. The Skill Test is where the Hindi, English and computer requirement gets tested in practice. How to Apply
Applications were accepted only online through NFSU's Samarth portal (nfsunt.samarth.edu.in). The fee for General, OBC and EWS candidates was ₹500 plus GST and transaction charges, about ₹590 in total, paid online. SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates were exempt. The last date, 23 March 2026, has passed, so new forms cannot be submitted now.
