Let us be clear upfront — CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) is not a job recruitment. It is a computer literacy certification conducted by NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology), a Government of India organization. The reason it appears on job portals is simple: CCC certification is mandatory for dozens of government jobs across India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh where it is required for Lekhpal, Patwari, clerk, and various Group C positions. If you are preparing for state government exams and do not yet have CCC, getting this certificate should be your first priority.
What CCC Covers
CCC is a basic computer literacy course covering: Introduction to Computers (hardware, software, operating systems), Introduction to GUI-based Operating System (Windows), Elements of Word Processing (MS Word), Spreadsheets (MS Excel), Introduction to Internet and WWW (browsing, email), Communication and Collaboration (email etiquette, social networking basics), and Application of Presentations (MS PowerPoint). The syllabus also includes basic financial literacy concepts. The entire course is designed to ensure basic digital literacy — not advanced IT skills.
Exam Details
CCC exam is conducted online at NIELIT-authorized test centres across India. The exam consists of 100 objective questions to be answered in 60 minutes. Topics are drawn from the syllabus above. Passing marks: 50 out of 100. Grading: S (50-54), A (55-64), B (65-74), A+ (75-84), S+ (85-100). Most government recruitment notifications simply require "CCC pass" without specifying a grade, so even 50 marks is sufficient. The exam fee is Rs 590 (plus GST).
Why CCC Matters for Government Jobs
In UP alone, CCC or an equivalent computer certificate is mandatory for: UP Lekhpal (7,994 posts), UPSSSC various Group C posts, UP Revenue Department posts, many clerk and data entry operator positions, and several Panchayati Raj department roles. Similar requirements exist in other states — Rajasthan's Patwari, Bihar's clerk positions, and various other state-level recruitments list CCC as an essential qualification. Without CCC, you simply cannot apply for these positions, regardless of your other qualifications.
How to Prepare and Register
Registration is through the NIELIT Student Portal (student.nielit.gov.in). You can self-study using NIELIT's free study material or join a short coaching course at any NIELIT-authorized institute. The exam is available throughout the year at multiple test centres, so you can choose a convenient date and location. Most candidates with basic computer familiarity can prepare for CCC in 2-3 weeks of focused study. The certificate is valid for life — once obtained, it does not need renewal. If you are planning to appear for any government exam that requires CCC, register and clear this certification before your main exam application deadline.
