Eligibility
You need a full-time Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade from an AICTE/UGC approved institute. On top of that, you need a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in electrical construction, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning, or TRD maintenance, in Railways, Metro Rail or power transmission and distribution utilities. Experience in Railway OHE, power supply, SCADA, E&M or utility diversion is preferred. Teaching, consultancy and freelance work do not count. If you have CGPA and your university has no rule, 6 on a 10-point scale is treated as 60%. You must be free from colour blindness.
The upper age limit is 50 years as on 1 October 2026 for all candidates. Relaxation follows Government of India guidelines, but the notification does not list the years for each category, so carry your certificate and check the official notification. The fixed consolidated pay is Rs 60,000 a month, all-inclusive, with a 5% increment after each completed year. IRCON reimburses a health policy premium of up to Rs 4,000 a year for Rs 3 lakh cover, and contributes to PF under the EPF Act. You get one leave per month, which can be carried forward but not encashed. There are no other allowances. The contract runs 18 months at first and can be extended by a year, and it ends with the project.
Selection Process
Selection is through the walk-in interview. Only candidates who meet the eligibility are interviewed, and the interview will not be held if you cannot show originals for age, community, education and experience.
