NTPC Limited is India's largest power generation company — a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power — and one of the country's most consistently reputed employers. With an installed capacity crossing 73 GW and operations spanning thermal, hydro, solar, and wind projects across the country, NTPC's Environmental Management function is not just a compliance team. It's the group that actively monitors, manages, and reduces the environmental impact of large power plants operating in sensitive zones. An Assistant Officer joining this team will work on air quality monitoring, effluent management, ecological impact assessments, regulatory compliance with MoEFCC norms, and greenbelt development — real field-level work backed by strong institutional infrastructure.
This advertisement (No. 06A/26) is for 20 posts of Assistant Officer (Environment Management) at E0 grade. E0 is the entry executive grade at NTPC with a pay scale of ₹30,000–₹1,20,000 (IDA). Selection Process
NTPC runs a multi-stage process for this post:
- Application Screening: Initial shortlisting based on educational qualifications and marks. Not all applicants proceed to the written test.
- Online Written Test: Carries 85% of the final weight. It has two parts — Subject Knowledge Test (SKT) covering environment-specific technical content, and Executive Aptitude Test (EAT) covering reasoning, data interpretation, and general management aptitude. Both parts are qualifying — you need to clear minimum cutoffs in each.
- Personal Interview: Carries 15% of the final weight. Shortlisted candidates from the written test appear for an interview at NTPC's corporate office or designated centre.
- Medical Examination: Final stage for candidates offered appointment.
Final merit is calculated as: Written Test score × 0.85 + Interview score × 0.15. Category-wise merit lists are prepared separately.
