Eligibility
All three posts need a full-time Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a BTE / AICTE-recognised institute or a recognised university. AM-Mechanical-II also needs ASNT / ISNT Level-II in UT (ultrasonic testing), and AM-Mechanical-III needs ASNT / ISNT Level-II in MPT (magnetic particle testing). Experience in QA/QC/testing (destructive or non-destructive), preferably in steel plants or rolling, forging or casting industries, is compulsory: 8 years for diploma holders and 2 years for degree holders. UR/EWS candidates need a first class or 60% marks; reserved candidates need 50%. Training, internship, teaching and research periods do not count as experience.
The maximum age is 40 years as on 20 November 2026. Relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC-NCL 3 years and PwBD 10 years (in addition to category relaxation; the post is identified for locomotor disability OA and OL).

Selection Process
Selection is by a written test and an interview. The written test has 125 one-mark objective questions in 2.5 hours, with no negative marking, covering quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, logical reasoning and general awareness. You need 50% (UR/EWS) or 45% (reserved) to move on. Candidates are called for interview in the ratio of 1:6, and the final score is written 60% + interview 40%. Test centres are tentatively Chennai, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram and Secunderabad. The tests for AM-II and AM-III are in the same shift, so choose one.
