RITES Limited, the Navratna engineering consultancy under the Ministry of Railways, has invited online applications for the engagement of Individual Consultants at its Ahmedabad location under VC Nos. YP/93/26 to YP/96/26. There are 5 positions in rolling stock, signalling and traction power work for a Metro/Railway client project. About RITES Limited (Navratna CPSE, Ministry of Railways)
The positions are: Site Engineer – Rolling Stock Testing & Commissioning (YP/93/26): 2 posts; Section Engineer – Signalling (YP/94/26): 1 post; Rolling Stock Expert – Electrical System (YP/95/26): 1 post; and Section Engineer – Third Rail & Power Supply & Substation (YP/96/26): 1 post. All are in Ahmedabad. The engagement is on a contract (CV-based) basis: the tentative project duration and initial tenure are 12 months, extendable on performance and project need, but not beyond the age of 65. Consultants are not RITES employees and are not entitled to PF, ESI or gratuity; they get 1.5 days of leave for each completed month. The engagement is for deployment at a client's site, so the engagement letter is issued only after the client approves the candidate's CV.

Eligibility
Site Engineer: graduate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 6 years of total experience, including 2 years in rolling stock testing, commissioning or inspection in Metro/Railways. Section Engineer – Signalling: graduate in Electronics, Telecommunication, IT or Electronics & Communication Engineering with 10 years total and 4 years of signalling systems work in Metro/Railways. Rolling Stock Expert: graduate in Electrical Engineering with 15 years total and 5 years in electrical systems of rolling stock (design review, inspection, testing, commissioning). Section Engineer – Third Rail & Power Supply: graduate in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with 10 years total and 4 years in third rail, traction power supply and substation work in Metro/Railways. Training, internship, teaching, academic, fellowship and PhD research periods do not count as experience.
The age limit for every post is not more than 64 years, counted on the last date of application, 29 November 2026. The advertisement does not give a minimum age or any category-wise relaxation.

Monthly payment for services: Site Engineer ₹85,000, Section Engineer – Signalling ₹1,20,000, Rolling Stock Expert ₹2,00,000 and Section Engineer – Third Rail & Power Supply ₹1,20,000. Payment is released within a week after each month based on attendance, after TDS. If the contract runs beyond a year, the remuneration may be reviewed annually.
Selection Process
Selection is by interview only. Everyone who submits the online form is first called for document scrutiny (tentatively 1 and 2 December 2026), and only eligible, shortlisted candidates go on to the personal interview (tentatively 3 and 4 December 2026). Both can be attended in person at the RITES Corporate Office, Shikhar, Plot No. 01, Sector-29, Gurugram, or online by video conferencing; the link is sent to your registered email or official chat group. Candidates are judged on technical skills, subject knowledge, experience, communication and interpersonal skills. No TA/DA is paid for attending.
