UPSSSC Teacher Cadre JTC 2026 — Special Education Teaching in UP Government Schools
This is not your regular teaching recruitment. UPSSSC Teacher Cadre JTC (Junior Teacher Cadre) is specifically for special education teachers — professionals trained to teach children with visual impairment, hearing impairment, mental retardation, and locomotor disabilities. Only 58 posts, but the candidate pool is tiny because very few people have both PET 2025 score and an RCI-registered Special Education Diploma. If you have this qualification, your competition is dramatically lower than mainstream teaching exams where lakhs apply.
What Makes This Different From Regular UPSSSC Teacher Posts
Regular UPSSSC teacher posts get 2-5 lakh applications. This JTC Special Education post will likely get 3,000-8,000 applications for 58 posts — a ratio of roughly 1:50 to 1:130. Compare that with UPTET where the ratio is 1:500+. The catch is the qualification — you need a Diploma in Special Education from an RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) recognized institute, plus active RCI registration. Not a B.Ed, not a D.El.Ed — specifically a Special Education Diploma. This eliminates 95% of regular teacher candidates. If you are one of the few with this diploma, this is arguably the easiest UPSSSC teaching job to crack right now.
Salary and Career as a Special Education Teacher in UP
JTC Grade teachers in UP fall under Pay Level 5 with a starting basic pay of Rs.29,200. With DA at current rates, HRA depending on posting district, and other allowances, the in-hand salary ranges from Rs.36,000 to Rs.42,000 per month. HTC Grade (4 posts in this recruitment) is at Level 6 with basic Rs.35,400 and in-hand Rs.44,000-50,000. Special education teachers often get posted at district-level inclusive education resource centers or at government schools with special education wings. The work involves teaching children with specific disabilities using adapted teaching methods — Braille for visually impaired, sign language for hearing impaired, sensory integration for intellectually disabled. It is meaningful work that regular classroom teachers rarely experience.
RCI Registration — The One Thing That Will Make or Break Your Application
RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) registration is non-negotiable. Your Special Education Diploma must be from an RCI-recognized institution, and you must have active registration at the time of application. If your diploma is from an institute that lost RCI recognition after you graduated, you are still eligible — but verify this with RCI before applying. Registration typically costs Rs.1,000-2,000 and takes 2-4 weeks. If you have not done it yet and the application opens on 6th April, you are cutting it extremely close for the 27th April deadline.
How to Apply — PET 2025 + UPSSSC Portal
Like all UPSSSC recruitments, you need a valid PET 2025 score. Login at upsssc.gov.in using your PET credentials or OTR number. Select Advt No. 03-Exam/2026, fill in your Special Education Diploma details, RCI registration number, upload documents, pay Rs.25, and submit. The entire process is the same as other UPSSSC forms — nothing special about the application process itself. The special part is only the qualification requirement.
