Eligibility
For Journeyman you need 10th pass with NAC or NTC (ITI) in the trade listed for that post, for example Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Painter or Diesel Mechanic. Driver (Material Handling) also needs a valid heavy vehicle licence. For Driver (Vehicle) you need 10th pass, a valid commercial LMV licence and at least 6 years' experience driving light and heavy vehicles on direct employment; a heavy vehicle licence and staff-car experience are desirable. Qualifications count as on 1 October 2026.
As on 1 October 2026, the maximum age is 26 years for Journeyman and 32 years for Driver (Vehicle). OBC candidates get 3 years' relaxation, SC/ST 5 years (where posts are reserved for them), and PwBD, ex-servicemen and ex-Agniveers get extra relaxation as listed in the notice. Nobody can be above 56 after all relaxations.

Journeymen get a fixed stipend of ₹24,000 a month in the first year and ₹26,000 in the second year, with PF, ESI, first-aid and hospitalisation cover and a subsidised canteen. The Driver (Vehicle) post is in the Skilled grade pay scale of ₹20,110-3%-70,390.
Selection Process
If many people apply, Journeyman candidates are shortlisted on their ITI (AITT) marks and Drivers on their experience. Selection is by a written test (OMR, 2 hours, 100 marks, 80 of them on your trade) at Kolkata and Ranchi, followed by a practical trade test. Driver (Material Handling), Rigger and Crane Operator candidates also take a qualifying physical test (ex-Agniveers are exempt). Tests can be taken in Hindi.
