Madhya Pradesh is hiring 10,150 primary school teachers — one of the largest teacher recruitment drives any Indian state has conducted in recent years. The Primary School Teacher Selection Test conducted by MPESB will fill classrooms across MP's government schools with fresh teaching talent. For candidates holding D.El.Ed or B.El.Ed with MP TET qualification, this massive recruitment means the probability of getting a government teaching job has never been higher.
Teaching in MP's Primary Schools
As a primary teacher, you teach Classes 1 through 5 — the foundation years where children learn to read, write, count, and understand their world. Unlike higher classes where you specialize in one subject, primary teachers handle the entire curriculum: Hindi, English, Mathematics, Environmental Studies (EVS), art, and physical education. Your classroom might have 30-40 students in urban schools or 15-20 in rural areas, and the teaching methodology emphasizes activity-based learning as prescribed by NCF 2005.
The posting can be in any district of MP. Rural postings are more likely for new recruits, where you may be one of only 2-3 teachers in a small primary school. In these settings, you handle multiple classes simultaneously, manage the mid-day meal programme, maintain school records, and sometimes serve as the de facto school administrator. The work is demanding but the impact is tangible — you literally shape the cognitive foundation of children who might not have access to any other quality educational resource.
Salary
Pay Level 5-6 (Rs 29,200-35,400 basic). With MP state DA, HRA, and allowances, starting in-hand approximately Rs 36,000-45,000. Teaching benefits include long summer and winter vacations, maternity/paternity leave, study leave for higher education, and pension/NPS. Rural posting allowance provides an additional increment for teachers in remote areas.
Eligibility
12th with 50% + D.El.Ed (2-year Diploma in Elementary Education) or B.El.Ed (4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education) or graduation with B.Ed. MP TET qualification is mandatory. Selection through MPESB written examination — Child Development and Pedagogy, Hindi, English, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Prepare NCERT books for Classes 1-5 and focus on pedagogy — how to teach, not just what to teach.
Why 10,150 Posts Is Transformative
MP has over 1 lakh government primary schools. With 10,150 new teachers joining simultaneously, roughly 1 in 10 schools gets a new teacher. For schools running with just one teacher handling 5 classes, this second or third teacher changes everything — smaller class groups, subject-specific attention, and proper time allocation. If you want a career that combines government job stability with genuine social impact, primary teaching in MP is that rare opportunity.
